The votes are in! This month, to celebrate our Right to Read, we are screening three films based on Banned Books. Over the past two weeks, Rockrimmon Library patrons voted to watch these films.
10:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m.: A Wrinkle in Time, 2018 film, rated PG. Description: although he has been missing for several years and the entire town thinks her father has abandoned her family, Meg steadfastly believes the best and protects her younger brother, Charles Wallace, from the brunt of the rumors and taunting. It is he, however, who convinces her to join him, the school sports star Calvin, and three unusual women on an interplanetary voyage to rescue their father from a vast evil.
12:30-2:30 p.m.: The Hunger Games, 2012 film, rated PG-13. Description: set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match.
2:45-4:30 p.m.: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, 2013 film, rated PG-13. Description: a high school freshman, always watching from the sidelines, is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.
