During Open Hours MAKE @ East is available for patrons to work on their own projects while a trained PPLD staff member is present. Equipment and supplies are available on a first come basis.

Join us for open-ended play! We’ll have fun toys to enhance your child’s early literacy learning. Meet new friends and have fun playing together.

Babies from birth to 12 months, with a favorite adult, enjoy songs, bouncing action rhymes, and sharing a book together. Each interactive session gives babies the opportunity to hear lots of language and play with other babies. Space is limited.

Culturally responsive reading: close, critical reading through the lens of culture, with illustrations of the process using excerpts from several different texts by authors such as Toni Morrison, Salman Rushdie, and Amy Tan.  A Taste of PILLA

Shake those wiggles out and have some fun! This 30-minute program consists of music and movement activities and a story. For two and three-year-old children, with a favorite adult.

Make easy arts and crafts.

For adults of all abilities.  Wheelchair accessible. Caregivers must remain present to assist their clients.

Yoga class for beginners and intermediate level practitioners with local yoga instructor Svetlana Nudelman. Please bring a yoga mat and wear comfortable clothes. (Yoga blanket, yoga strap, and two yoga blocks recommended.)

Speak English groups are informal English language conversation groups for adults with intermediate and advanced English skills. Each group meets once a week for two hours. Classes are free and no registration is necessary.

Homeschoolers will be introduced to the many variations of Japanese koi fish and their habitat, then create a 3-D koi, and paint it in realistically bright colors.

Teens and Tweens - drop in to the library for something fun to do! We'll have a different activity available every week.

For ages 9-18

Held in the Adult Reading Area -- If you've attended one of Theresa Pingel's and Jo Golden's paper crafting classes in the past, you know how much fun they are. Each participant will take home 2 finished projects. Beginners are welcome!

Love Video Games? From next generation to old school classics, and board games, stop by and play for a while! Recommended ages 7-12.

Static electricity: it's shocking! Your child will experiment with balloons and different materials as they learn about static electricity while having a shockingly fun time! For ages 5-12.

For adults wanting to improve their workplace and every day English language skills. Classes provide instruction in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Registration is required.

Winter Adult Reading Program

Create your favorite constellation using embroidery floss and some basic stitches.

Registration Required. Ages 16+

Come stitch in community. Join our knitters, crocheters, piecers, and cross stitchers for an hour and a half of conversation, stitching, help, and tea! Beginners welcome with yarn and needles available for use during session.
