Program Description

Event Details

Children will make an electronic light-up plastic egg "crash test dummy" using an LED, battery, magnet, screw, and wire. Children create a simple circuit inside their egg, using a screw and magnet to make a switch. When the egg is jostled or dropped, the screw comes loose from the magnet and turns out the egg's LED. This means the egg is "dead." Resetting the egg is as simple as connecting the screw and magnet back together. After building their LED egg, children will then make vehicles and protective devices to prevent their egg from turning off when dropped, while learning about real safety equipment such as harnesses, seatbelts, and airbags.
