We Have a Story: Homeless in Colorado Springs
Photography Reception and Exhibit

What does our city looks like through the lens of young adults experiencing homelessness and a case manager who serves them? Come find out!

At the reception, you will see the artists' top photos and artists' statements and meet people involved in the project. Light refreshments will be served. The reception is a drop-in event (no registration required) free to the public. The exhibit will be at East Library through the month on January and traveling to other Pikes Peak Library District libraries before and after January.

We Have a Story: Homeless in Colorado Springs” is a documentary project completed in 2023 by young adults experiencing homelessness and a case manager who serves them. This project captures the unique experiences of these individuals through photos and stories. The three individuals who participated in the project present their distinctive perspectives of this complex and diverse community.

The photographers took pictures over a month in the Summer of 2023. They met as a group with a professional photographer to learn digital photography skills and critique their photographs. Participants also sat with a historian to conduct oral history interviews. At the end of the project, they each selected four images and wrote an accompanying title and artist story.
