Description

Lovingly known as "K. I. Siberia" by those who served there, K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base is a former USAF base in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Being open from 1955 until 1995, it served as a nuclear deterrent to the Soviet Union for forty years.

My name is Tyler and I have a Bachelor's of Arts in History and am working towards my Master's in Military History, with a focus on Cold War USAF History and the Strategic Air Command. This presentation is a culmination of my research into the former K. I. Sawyer AFB and a way to honor those who served there. The presentation includes never-before-seen research and pictures, interviews with veterans who served there, and information on Strategic Air Command and its contributions to the nation during the Cold War.

The presentation will go from 5:00 PM until about 6:00 PM, and will be followed by a Q&A session.
