Event Details
In this class, learn how to use the resources available to research the history of any property in El Paso County. The program will feature select materials from the Regional History & Genealogy Department that are not typically available outside the department.
The session will include a focused presentation introducing key tools and strategies, followed by a guided, hands-on practice using local records and research databases. Participants will explore how to answer questions such as: When was the property built? Who built it? Who first acquired the land from the federal government? When was the neighborhood platted? And how does the story of a particular property or subdivision fit into the broader history of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region?
By the end of the class, attendees will leave with practical research skills, a clearer understanding of available resources, and a roadmap for continuing their property history research on their own.
