Poems can thrill and expand us. Explore your power as apoet and see how the right words in the right order can create change. Poetry is necessary and urgent at this point in history; it helps us speak with the most impact. By sharing our voices we can create change in ourselves, in other, and in the world. Participants will be guided in writing spoken word poetry, practicing reading aloud and preparing a piece for performance on stage.
Please bring the following materials to this session:
- A notebook or journal to write in without worrying about making mistakes
- A pen that feels good in your hand
- The bravery to speak out loud
