Program Description

Event Details

This program takes place at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (215 S. Tejon St., Colorado Springs, CO, 80903). Admission is free.

The program is designed for students in grades 2nd through 5th grade. Please register each person (child, any siblings, and adult) who will be attending the program.

In 2018, the City of Colorado Springs completed an archaeological excavation of the midden (trash) pit at Glen Eyrie, the home of our city's founder, General William Jackson Palmer. Whether history lends us documents, photographs, artifacts, or even trash, we can use historic sources to explain the past. Students will work together as history detectives to use historical evidence to understand the development of the Pikes Peak region. This program is presented at the Pioneers Museum and designed for students in grades 2nd through 5th grade.

Registration is required. The museum's program room has a strict attendance policy. Please register each child (including siblings) and adult that will be attending the event.

A second session of the same program will be offered at 1 p.m.
