Class Description:
We will go over the basics of installing a water heater in your home. Bring a picture of your water heater for specific help in sizing, replacing, material lists, and cost assessment for your water heater. Then we will review the permitting and inspection process. Mechanical process of installing a water heater will also be covered.
The local permitting codes have changed making the requirement of a master level plumber to install a water heater (used to be HVAC, mechanical and journeymen plumbers could install). This has made water heater installation a lot more expensive and difficult to schedule. If you are a homeowner and therefore can pull your own permit, Greg Young, a master plumber, can walk you through all the steps to installing your own water heater, which could save you thousands of dollars and a lot of wait time. You should already know how to do copper pipe soldering before taking this class and bring a picture of your current water heater to take advantage of this individually tailored instruction.
Learning Outcome:
Learners can pull a permit and install a water heater on their own property.
Supplies: Bring a picture of your own water heater, including the model and serial numbers.
