Who is this class for?
Beginners who have had some experience with hand building with clay.
Learn the house rules of Ceramic Studio at the MAC. Learn fundamentals of hand-building: basics of ceramics and clay types, wedging clay, reclaiming used clay, slab roller, using imprints and tools to create textured surfaces or design, creating shapes forms, joining clay pieces together using slip, using wax resist, glazing. Each participant will create one or two pieces that can be glazed and taken home.
Bring a lunch and we'll take a break halfway through.
Supplies:
- Bring your own towel for cleanup
- a set of tools if you have them
- MAC will provide clay and glaze
Learning Outcome:
To be able to use the ceramics studio for hand-building, following the organizational procedures of the studio.
Participants MUST attend both sessions
