Description

Male Northern Cardinals have striking red plumage that’s thought to play a role in attracting mates. To develop red feathers, he need to eat seeds or fruit containing pigment molecules called yellow carotenoids. His body then change those pigments from yellow to red. Males with the brightest red feathering tend to have the best luck with the females. In general, birds with the brightest color also tend to have better immunity, winter survival, foraging ability, and skill at avoiding predators.

In this class, tailored to beginners, we will paint this bright beautiful bird. In addition, we will be adding a soft blue/gray background with course sea salt sprinkled on to give the impression of snow.

You will be provided with all art materials necessary to complete the in-class template. You will have the choice to add extra take-home paints or an extra template or both! The templates are pre-drawn for you so all you need to do is come and follow the step-by-step instructions.
