Event Details
The 2023 Pikes Peak Poetry Summit theme is "Art is a Bridge to New Perspectives." This year we are celebrating poetry across Colorado with features from all over the state. Full details of the event here.
We live in a world of conflicting truths and polarized opinions, but YOUR unique voice is needed. What’s the urgent message you have to share? How can your story affect change? Whatever you have to say, it’s worth hearing. Throughout this workshop participants will listen, write, and share together to compose poems expressing the evocative beliefs that define who we are.
Susan M. Peiffer is a queer poet, educator, and youth advocate with twenty years experience working with young people in social, educational, and summer-camp settings. Susan served as the 5th Poet Laureate of the Pikes Peak region and has worked with Hear Here Poetry since 2012 to elevate literary arts and spoken word poetry in Colorado Springs. Her confessional and observational writing covers social topics through a personal lens using colorful language and unique cadences to inspire conversation and urgent action towards intersectional justice issues affecting today’s society. Susan owns Elevated Escape, LLC, a concierge sightseeing tour agency, travels as a public speaker, works with survivors of sexual violence, and is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Susan believes that irrational is not always unreasonable, that most inanimate objects come to life at night, and that cheese is milk's greatest leap towards immortality.
The workshops are provided at no cost. All workshops are 45 minutes in duration. Please prepare change for the metered parking.
Seats are limited to 10 people for this workshop. Ages 8 to 12 years.
