Banned Books Week Virtual Read-Out

Description

Your words have power. Stand up to censorship and declare your literary freedoms by reading from a banned book or discussing censorship issues on camera!

Join Pikes Peak Library District in supporting freedom of speech with our Banned Books Week Virtual Read-Out! There are several ways you can support our Read-Out. We would love to hear:

  • About your favorite banned/challenged book, and why it means so much to you! How would it make you feel if someone prevented you from reading the book?
  • You reading an excerpt from a banned/challenged book
  • Your personal story about a locally banned/challenged book
  • Your take on a promotional video for Banned Books Week! You can check out examples here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=FLqruep4YtE-2ioIiG2MsWZg&feature=plcp

All videos will be no more than 3 minutes long.

If you would like a refresher, here is a list of banned/challenged books throughout the years! http://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks/frequentlychallengedbooks
